About ESSAV
ESSAV Ethiopia is an Ethiopian Society of Small Animal Veterinarians and was founded by 21 Veterinarians in Ethiopia on 14th June 2023.
Vision
- To be one of the leading professional society in research, training and Veterinary services in small animals to improve their welfare.
Mission
- To influence public policy, and provide accessible data to the community to be at the center of excellence in small animal veterinary services through research, training, and practice.
Objectives
- Promotion of small animal veterinary services
- To build small animal Veterinarians network with one health approach
- To conduct quality, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research on small animal with one health approach.
- To make collaboration with various governmental and non-governmental organizations in the globe to solve small animal welfare.
So far, the ESSAV has conducted activities including awareness creation on small animal welfare, and rabies vaccination campaigns.
Future Perspective in Ethiopia
- Organizing Small animal vaccination campaigns and managing stray dogs and cats in Ethiopia.
- Control and prevention strategies of parasitic disease of small animal
- Research on antimicrobial resistance and one health issue which are associated with small animal diseases.
- Summer school small animal Medicine
- Project management of rabies, and continuing professional development courses
- Organizing Small animal Veterinarians forum.
