THE WSAVA FOUNDATION
ABOUT US
As the umbrella organization for companion animal veterinarians globally, the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) established a Foundation in 2011. Since then, our mission has been to improve global companion animal care through science and education.
As a not-for-profit, the WSAVA Foundation funds select scientific, educational, and training projects that will be delivered by clinical and laboratory specialists for the benefit of practicing veterinarians around the globe. By doing so, we hope to achieve our ultimate goal of raising the level of patient care for companion animals worldwide.
VISION
To improve global companion animal care by means of science and education.
MISSION
To acquire and manage funds and activities to support scientific and educational activities that will be delivered by clinical and laboratory specialists for the benefit of practising veterinarians globally.
OUR IMPACT
Since 2011, the WSAVA Foundation has been able to support several important projects through the help of our generous sponsors and supporters. As we continue to raise more funds, our portfolio of initiatives has grown, giving more veterinarians around the world access to valuable help and resources.
The African Small Companion Animal Network (AFSCAN) is a global project targeted at improving the capability and knowledge of the African veterinary community. Since the start of the AFSCAN initiative, we have helped create new sustainable veterinary networks in separate African countries.
In partnership with Computers 4 Africa, our AFSCAN project provides Internet accessibility for African veterinarians in small communities through our Distance Learning initiative. In addition to repurposing used computers, the Distance Learning initiative allows African veterinarians in remote locations to improve their skill set by using online resources.
Our Fun(d) Run in Auckland, New Zealand, raised money to support Mission Rabies, which aims to make a difference in the lives of people and dogs in high-risk countries with rabies. Future Fun(d) Runs and other upcoming events, such as our Gala Raffles, will benefit similar projects.
