The World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA), the umbrella organization for companion animal veterinarians globally, has established a Foundation with a remit to improve global companion animal care through science and education.
The WSAVA Foundation (WSAVAF), a not-for-profit body, held its inaugural meeting during the North American Veterinary Congress in Florida in January 2011 and has identified a range of potential projects which are likely to include
initiatives to educate veterinarians and the public globally about disease prevention and improvement of health in companion animals

creating standardization projects in key areas of companion animal health and welfare
supporting the development of innovative clinical approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of clinical diseases in companion animals
The aim is to fund selective scientific, educational and training projects that will be delivered by clinical and laboratory specialists for the benefit of practicing veterinarians globally helping us to achieve our ultimate goal of raising the level of patient care for companion animals around the World.
